Course Description
Patients rarely suffer from only 1 disease. Most have several conditions with common risk factors and etiology, and often increase the severity of each other. The phenotypes linked to 1 condition are often linked to many others. This course reviews 3 conditions that fall into this category: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Erectile Dysfunction (ED), as well as discussion of the relationship to Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). ED is a disease with a wide scope of etiologies. OSA is considered one of the risk factors for ED, with a growing body of evidence that shows an association between OSA and ED. This course provides the learner with a review of the relationship between ED, OSA and the possible overlapping mechanisms for those conditions as well as being a contributing factor for AFib.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, the learner will be able to:
-
Describe clinical findings of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
-
Describe the clinical findings of Erectile Dysfunction
-
Understand the overlap of clinical findings between OSA, ED and AFib
